The Loop Sunset to Sunrise

Race Rules & Regulations

Are you ready to run from sunset to sunrise?

23 May 2026 · MontChoisy Golf Estate, Mauritius

01

Course & Loop Format

  • The race is run on an 8 km loop within MontChoisy Golf Estate.
  • The route follows the asphalted golf cart track and is designed to be as flat as possible, with minimal elevation gain.
  • The course will be clearly marked at all times.
  • For night running, fluorescent and reflective markers will be added to ensure visibility and runner safety.
  • The event runs from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am (overnight).
  • The course is a fixed loop. Participants may complete as many full loops as they wish during the event time.
02

Loop Completion & Tracking

  • To count, a loop must be completed in full and follow the official course markings at all times.
  • Timing/scoring is based on complete loops only (partial loops do not count).
  • Scanning pods are installed along the course to confirm that each participant completes the full loop.
  • Each runner will receive a race bracelet with an embedded pod that is automatically scanned on the track.
  • The bracelet remains the property of the organisers and must be returned after the race on withdrawal or at the finish.
03

No Cut-Off Per Loop / No Rest Limit

  • There is no maximum time to complete a loop.
  • There is no maximum time to rest at base camp between loops.
  • Participants manage their own pace, breaks, food, and recovery while respecting all safety rules.
04

Starting a New Loop (Last Departures)

  • Only fully completed loops by 6:00 am sharp will be counted.
  • No runner will be allowed to leave base camp for a new loop after 6:00 am.
05

End of Event / Course Closure

  • The course closes at 6:30 am.
  • As from 6:15 am, participants may be asked to return to base camp immediately, even if they are midway through a loop.
06

Withdrawal — Mandatory Notification

  • If a runner decides to stop, they must inform the Race Organisers at base camp as soon as possible.
  • A runner is officially withdrawn only once the organisers have been notified and the runner is checked in at base camp.
07

Safety & Organiser Authority

  • The organisers may stop a runner or end a runner’s participation for safety reasons (health concern, rule breach, or unsafe behaviour).
  • All runners must follow course markings, marshal instructions, and any updated safety announcements during the night.
08

Assistance & Support

  • Only one assistant/crew member is permitted per space.
  • Assistants must remain in designated areas (base camp / authorised zones) and must follow staff instructions at all times.
  • Any outside support given on the Loop course (outside authorised areas) may lead to disqualification.
  • No assistance may be given on the start line / immediate start area. If you need help, step away from the start zone.
  • No assistance is permitted during a loop. Any food, fluids or gear needed on-course must be carried by the runner.
  • Assistance is permitted only between loops, after you complete a loop and before you start the next one.
09

Winner & Ranking

  • The winner is the runner who completes the highest number of full loops before the 6:00 am race closure.
  • If two or more runners finish with the same number of loops, the organisers may apply a tie-break method (e.g., fastest last completed loop or earliest completion of the final counted loop), as defined by the official timing/scoring team.
10

Base Camp Etiquette

  • If you withdraw, you may be asked to vacate your rest area space so other runners can reorganise closer to the start line at base camp (when applicable).
  • Runners must use the toilets provided at base camp and at 2 locations on the course and must not relieve themselves anywhere on the course.
  • Please help us keep base camp calm and quiet so runners can rest and stay focused; thank you for remembering this is a race support area, not a children’s playground.
