The Second Edition
Friday, August 28, 2026, 4 pm. At Domaine de Labourdonnais, 97 runners set off on the second edition of The Loop Backyard Ultra. No one yet knows when, or how, the race will end.
The format stays the same: a 6.706 km loop to complete every hour, starting on the hour, until only one runner is left on course.
That last runner is Percy Driver: 24 loops, 160.9 km. A win owed to preparation, patience, and a mindset that never gave way.
Alongside until the end, Zach Herbst, the “assist”, completes 23 loops for 154.2 km. Staying in the leader’s stride, hour after hour, right up to the very last start: few runners can.
Already the winner of Sunset to Sunrise in May, Anabelle Devienne sets the best female performance of the edition: 12 loops, 80.5 km, run with consistency and composure.

Between the Loops
Between two starts, something else was happening. At La Place du Manguier, families waited. Friends counted the minutes. And runners quietly found a reason to go again.
That is what we will remember most, because it is the very essence of a backyard ultra: everyone starts together, only one finishes.
